Readers of this blog may recall our pioneering work with Belfast Metropolitan on a new kind of drape forming machine for the global composites industry.
It is exciting stuff indeed. The Ceramicx Vector Drape Former is now nearing its completion as a fully working solution for out-of-autoclave production. Our technology is ready – but is the manufacturing market place? Therein lies the rub.
A taste of the new machine will be launched at K 2016, the triennial plastics exhibition in Düsseldorf. Ceramicx. The launch proper, however, will happen at the leading show for the composites industry, JEC Paris, March 14-16, 2017.
Much as Ceramicx is familiar with the issues involved in core thermoforming plastic production processes, it is there – at JEC 2017 in the heartland of composites technology – that the Vector Drape Former will have greatest chance of success.
True innovation reminds one of the saying ‘make what you can sell’…and not the other way around. From Day One Ceramicx has kept a steady eye on the likely horizon for this composites technology in the coming 10 years. The need for composite materials produced with greater process speed, efficiency and decreased energy consumption will become very apparent, particularly among sections of the automotive, aerospace, transport and construction industries. The Vector Drape Former will answer those needs.
In short, at Ceramicx we have no business being ahead of our time. True innovation answers the needs of the present moment. Those needs – for the composites manufacturing sector at least – are clear for all to see.
For full details of the project – message Ceramicx directly. Otherwise we look forward to seeing you at K 2016 October 19-26 and at JEC March 14-16.
