History

Ceramicx was founded in 1992 by Frank and Gráinne Wilson. From the beginning, the company focused on engineering excellence, product quality, and long-term customer partnerships.

Specialising in ceramic infrared heating elements and complete turnkey infrared heating systems and ovens, Ceramicx supports industries including packaging, automotive, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing. Its systems are used in applications such as thermoforming, preforming, pressure forming, welding, non-contact drying, spot heating, and a wide range of precision industrial processes.

Building Strength Through Integration

A defining feature of Ceramicx’s growth has been its policy of backward integration — investing in its own machinery, equipment, and in-house capabilities rather than outsourcing. This strategy strengthened quality control, improved innovation speed, and positioned the company as a highly reliable international partner.

Today, 98% of Ceramicx products are exported to more than 80 countries, with primary markets including Germany, the UK, the USA, Turkey, India, and China.

Growth, Resilience and International Focus

In its initial years Ceramicx regularly achieved growth of over 30%, this slowed during the Celtic tiger and forced Ceramicx to consolidate and focus on cutting costs to remain internationally competitive.

Over the past 15 years, the company has experienced sustained expansion, driven by significant investment in people, facilities, and advanced equipment. Ceramicx has evolved from a component manufacturer into a comprehensive solutions provider — delivering not only heating elements, but complete engineered systems and equipment builds.

Expansion and Certification

In 2017, Ceramicx completed a major building expansion project, adding new office space, expanded machine and oven manufacturing areas, and cleanroom environments to support future growth and increasingly complex customer requirements.

In 2020, the company achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification, reinforcing its commitment to quality management and continuous improvement.

A New Chapter

In 2023, Ceramicx was acquired by NIBE Group and became part of the NIBE Element business area. This marked an important milestone, strengthening the company’s global reach while preserving its engineering expertise and customer-focused approach.

In 2025 Frank Wilson retired from his role as Managing Director at Ceramicx after 33 years at the helm of the company.
